There are many causes and factors as to why people experience hair loss - for both men and women. Things such as stress, diet, illness and poor hair care are just a few - however they are usually more temporary and most often when these factors are improved the hair loss usually stops. Heredity is another condition as hair loss is often inherited from our parents - and this kind of hair loss is irreversible. Lastly there are the hormones and these can affect people very differently on an individual basis.
Men have plenty of testosterone, and with this comes enzymes which produce a substance called DHT (Dihydrotestostrone). It has been found through years of research that DHT is the cause of many conditions, one being the shrinking of hair follicles. So when the follicles shrink enough they cannot reproduce and push a new hair through. Then when the old hair dies it isn't replaced.
In women there are also hormonal causes to hair loss - both temporary and permanent. Being pregnant, giving birth and menopause all cause changes and imbalances to the hormones, which can effect women both mentally and physically.
Many years ago in ancient times herbal and oil based solutions to hair loss were created and used by those such as Egyptians, Aztecs, Mayans and American Indians - several with some success. Now a days with all the medical research that has been done the focus has been on finding the key to being able to re-open and stimulate the hair follicles that have shrunk, so that the hair can start to grow again naturally.
There have been many products that have been created both over the counter and prescription. One particular ingredient in a lot of the hair loss products on the market is called 'minoxidil'. Research conducted on trials has shown that over 80% of all people who participated with a product that contained this ingredient have seen effective slowed hair loss, and in some cases it has even caused hair regrowth. One other ingredient that is commonly used in hair loss treatments is 'azelaic acid' - which is an ingredient that appears to encourage the follicle repair in both men and women. Using hair loss products that contain either of these ingredients does at least give the person losing the hair a few options - but you do have to keep in mind, you must persevere and be patient as it can sometimes take up to 3 - 6 months before you may see any improvement
Most scientifically created products have separate solutions for both men and women because both sexes have different hormones at different levels. Several products out there can come in liquid form, or a pill or a capsule - or both.
